hey there everyone,i'm scheduled to buy my first salvia stash soon and was wondering if i should get myself some extract or lots of regular dried leaves in bulk.
u see i'm hoping to get a quality trip out of the stuff but not run out right away.
what do u guys think??
my price range will probably be somewhere between £160 and £180 if that helps smile.gif
Hi Varcolaci,
I recommend 5x extract; plenty strong.
I hope you've done your homework--reading on sagewisdom.org, as well as some of the threads on this board. Salvia is not a party drug; it is a sacred plant easily capable of changing your perceptions forever --treat it as such, and you'll be fine.

thanx for replying dude smile.gif
i have read some stuff about salvia from various sources and i intend to keep doing so,then at least i'll be informed enough to be carefull with it and treat it with respect.
just out of curiosity however, what's a fair price these days for salvia,i won't be buying any for a little while yet but i wouldn't wanna get ripped off by not being clued in enough to know a good deal from a bad one smile.gif
Hi Varcolaci,
You dont really need to spend that much money, I'm personally bought salvia from a couple of online shops for less than £20 a gram, try http://www.allsalvia.co.uk/order.htm.
One gram should be enough if its just you smoking it, you dont need a huge amount to get the most out of it.
Please keep in mind that salvia is a seriously intense drug, and while I've never had any problems at all I suggest you look at the 'train wreck' trip reports of salvia on erowid, there are only about 4 compared to a couple of hundred good reports but you should know the worst that could happen so you know what your getting into.
I started off (very recently) smoking a very small amount of 10x extract and slowly moved up to larger amounts, you want to find yourself a good water bong thats going to let you take a big hit in one go as you get thrown into salvias world very quickly, and often I'm too out of it to administer as many hits as I was planning.
Also, all the stuff you read about needing a tourch lighter doesnt seem to be true, I'm got on fine with just a plane clipper and I cant imagine holding smoke in your lungs thats been lit by a 2500 degree mini bunson burner is very nice so I'd stay away from that.
Let us know how you get on.

i would go 5X or 10X - and perhaps also get some of the liquid extract which tastes nasty but I found to be a much more empathic and friendly experience. You will want a sitter present for smoking.

hey it's me again smile.gif
just thought i'd clear something up.the reason i was talking about purchasing such a large amount is coz my immediate family are going away in just under 3 weeks leaving me with 2 weeks to myself with nothing but some videogames, manga and a small dog to look after.it just seemed to me like a perfect
time to satisfy my curiostity about the salvia
experience.however i know it's not about getting as mashed as possible like with other drugs.
as for the whole sitter thing, there's no one i feel i could trust with that if u catch my drift. i'll just keep the dosage nice n safe and i should be okay don't u think??
all i really need to figure out now is what type of salvia i'm getting,if it's the smokable variety then i'll just use my old bucket bong that i used to smoke blow with.
i don't know as much about the stuff that is taken orally,is it in general a different kind of experience??
u know this is probably the most thought i've ever put into purchasing any mind altering substance although i am glad that there's lot's of info about, didn't have that with weed or ecstacy so it was kind of a gamble.pretty nice though :D
anyways i'd like to stop babbling on for a bit,i'll definately let u guys know how it goes.and i'll continue to read all the web pages that you're posts link to.
thanx again guys smile.gif

I really, really, really urge you not to smoke alone. I thought it would be OK too, and it wasn't -- it was immediate existential terror, the likes of which I never felt before. Luckily I did not smoke enough to go completely over the brink and was able to return unharmed. (A big storm promptly kicked up and the wind blew the remaining salvia all over my bedroom, which I took to be a message.) I am experienced in partaking of other substances solo -- please believe me when I say this one is different.

i might ask my bro if he'll stay in the same room and reassure me every now n then.can't say how he'll react though so i could very well still end up alone.
my friends are also away for the summer or i would ask them.
so tell me more about this terror trip,i've been getting steadily psyched and trying to prep myself for when the time comes but you've got me a little worried now.
i know that salvia can provide insight in to other worldly realms, but do freaky things like (REALLY) happen that aren't necessarily a part of the trip???

But what I felt was extremely overwhelming and powerful -- nothing like the onset of other psychedelics. It wasn't that what I saw was terrifying; what was terrifying to me was the immediate feeling of loss of self. I've always maintained a great deal of self-control under the influence of other substances, but I don't think that's possible for me when smoking salvia. That's what I found so scary, and that's why I think it's important to have someone around. You may not be in control of your self.

just what do u mean about loss of self, was the overwhelming part u speak of experiencing like an uncontrollable emotional outburst or did you literally feel like you were another person??

I wrote my own "terror trip" here (http://www.breakingopenthehead.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=6;t=000111), and if you continue reading that thread, you will find some other scary trip reports as well.
I don't want to discourage you; chances are, you'll have a good trip. But do it with a sitter, to keep you grounded to reality.
