Well, needless to say we have a ludicrous amount of junk posts on the site, but every flourishing bud in our technosphere has a link to other significant dimensions of the system. What I mean is this: could these dumb posts be the last, faint vital signs of a technosphere rapidly approaching cardiac arrest? Could these desperate spawn of the advertisement dominated anti-culture be the final organisms of the de-evolution of the Kali Yuga? Is there a higher meaning in our spam? Maybe we could play with this a bit . . . smile.gif

I agree and would go 1 step further and add that each spammed entry is a symbol of a person, who is striving like hell to make that all might buck and can't even stop to take a calming breath. It is a test of our tolerance and ability to still show compassion.

Well, you know, there ought to be a way to make money from them.
Perhaps Daniel would be willing to sell this "site" to a group of INVESTORS,poor ones at that who would clean up the site and add some very worthy info out there to the"newcomers".30 and under.
Perhaps bring it all together.

Well, I hope the spam problem has been solved.
I doubt there is a higher meaning to the spamming of this site, any website that is easy for a bot to access, create an account without even having an email activation code sent, and allows people to post messages without even having to press a button or verify that it's a real person of any kind will get spammed to death.
just like any email addresses that are posted on any google-able page. when I type this@spamthis.com there will be THOUSANDS of spam emails sent to that address, wether it exists or not. There are auto finders for emails publicly available on the net and they log them and automatically send out spam mail to them. I doubt there's much more to think about when it comes to spamming.

Yep, the old board was pretty much wide open to non-verifiable registration. Security could have been optimized a little bit there, but there were several other reasons for upgrading also. All of that's fixed now, and there are a few more tricks in the hat at our disposal, should we find ourselves inundated again. I want to avoid doing anything extra fancy such as auto-masking email addresses if any are typed in. I think we're in stable waters now, in any case. And I want to thank everyone again for being so patient and forgiving.
If you happen to see a spam message, you should be able to click on this http://www.breakingopenthehead.com/forum/images/buttons/report.gif to report it to the moderator team (which is still growing).

Cool, thanks. :D
When i first showed up here it was hard to even browse the forum I was kind of reluctant to post messages wondering if anyone would even read them!
Glad to see everything's fixed up now, I'll be regular around here as I am a huge fan of Daniel's. I've never been so drawn to any book except the two that Daniel has written. Since I recieved my copy of 2012 I have been reading more than ever before! Normally it takes me about 6 months+ to get through a book that I "enjoy". Im nearly finished 2012 TROQ already and I've only had it for a couple weeks!! I'm not sure how he does it, but it works! :)
Thanks everyone!!
