Some of you probably watch Real Time with Bill Mayer. He has people representing the right and the left on his show. Though his own opinions piss me off sometimes I appreciate the fact that he does not fit into either sold out camp (Republican or Democrat), like myself. He believes that the drug war should come to an end, which is good enough for this convicted felon.
Anyhow, in Daniel's book and in other references in this forum I have read about the deforestation in South America. The tragic loss of family farms and defoliated forest plants in guise of the drug war. This devasts poor families down there and gets rave reviews if mentioned at all up here.
Last week, the United Nations reaffirmed its commitment to this policy, which is appalling.
On the website for Real Time, linked to the HBO homepage, there is a space called SPEAK UP. One may submit some personal information and up to 4000 words about a topic they wish Bill and his guests to discuss. This url is as follows, however, if I don't get it right go to the HBO website, click on Real Time with Bill Mayer, then click on SPEAK UP and fill in the blanks.

I would do it myself, but I have only second hand knowledge. One of you here who has witnessed this tragedy would no doubt have more clout and make a more persuasive case. It may be the only opportunity to have this debated on TV in the USA.
Peace
