The first issue of Metacine is now slated for Dec/Jan. I really want to encourage participants on the BOTH board to propose articles for us. They can do it here or contact me via email. If they have art or visual material to contribute, they can contact our art director at e@erikarand.com.
I am most interested in specific journalistic pieces at this point in time. Many people who write for this board are clearly gifted thinkers and writers. Many have also never tried journalism before. Journalism is a very "do-it-yourself" kind of a field. Once you have determined your subject, you then figure out who you could speak with who could provide you with information related to your topic. Some interviews will be background, and some will produce quotes that can be used in the pieces. If people don't get back to you, you find other people to contact, and you keep going until you have the information and quotes that you need.
The range of topics we intend to develop is posted at www.metacine.net. (http://www.metacine.net.) I am interested in specific tools, techniques, and technologies in areas ranging from ecological design to shamanism, from progressive uses of new technologies to community organizing tactics. Pieces that don't fit into the magazine may be published on the Website we will develop.
I really encourage you BOTHers to consider yourselves as deputized journalists - and use journalism as a tool to answer pressing questions that you have, and to discover information that fascinates you. The ultimate goal of Metacine is to create a template for a new planetary culture that can supplant our current criminal and greed-based civilization that is currently crashing to the ground.
If anyone queried me and didn't get a response, please query me again!
