Ok, as promised, since I received no objects, I have posted a (very) short essay I've written for comments. Please be brutal! ;)

Bush and The West Wing
Conservatives must hate The West Wing, they must think it is the epitome of all that's wrong with the liberal media. The President, an economist, epitomizes the liberal idea of governance by the educated. It must seem elitist to the country bumpkin whose only concern is to carry out his business, free from government interference, yet protected from those who would cheat him. Analyst's get it right when they say there is a culture war in America, a war between those who would only do business for themselves, protecting their family, helping the poor through Churches, and spreading the good word of their faith, and those who would impose tougher restrictions on the powerful in order to protect the weak. The conservatives must think our esteem of the educated, our apotheosis of intellectuals like Carl Marx, etc. a grave sin. They must scoff at the way we parade around the God of Reason. It must seem too much like the seductive promise of the serpent back when the earth was still a garden, and men had yet to till the fields.
But we do worship reason, we do worship the egos that brings forth revolutions in thought, Einstein, Gallileo, and dare we say Jesus, who brought us the revolution that would forever reshape the world: the Golden Rule. To us, Jesus' message was one of tolerance, not of free markets, and in this way we share a strange connection with the conservatives, for we both act out of an overwhelming desire to better ourselves, and our neighbors. We may call Bush's policy in Iraq myopic, but from listening to Bush's speeches it is clear he wants to bring peace to a trouble nation, and in that way he shares our desire to create a more peaceful and tolerant world, a world where people can choose to worship reason, or God, in whatever way they desire, so long as it does not infringe on anyone else's right to do the same.
[ok that's it... i know it doesn't quite feel like it's at the end... consider this the first 200 words. let me know what you think, thanks! :)]
