The Feathered Serpent
(source) (http://www.thunderbolts.info/tpod/2005/arch05/00current.htm)

The luminous “feathers” of mythic serpents add an exclamation point to the unexplained patterns of world mythology. But plasma science suggests a new interpretation, one that could place serpent images as a whole in an entirely new light.

The principal god of the Aztec was Quetzalcoatl, one of whose best known aspects was that of the 'feathered serpent'. The impression shown here is on display in the anthropological museum of Villahermosa in Tabasco, Mexico. The image is well known, but the oddness of a snake covered in feathers remains unexplained; needless to say, snakes have a scaly skin and the closest approximation to feathered reptilians are palaeontological findings of bird-like dinosaurs that have nothing to do with mythology.

The mystery is deepened by the fact that striking parallels are found beyond the boundaries of the Aztec world. The Maya called the plumed dragon Cuculcan or Cucumatz, the Zuñi Kolowissi, the Hopi Palulukoñ. As far South as Venezuela we hear of the snake Huiio who crowned herself with the scattered feathers of the ancestral birds, as the Makiritare people report. In Greek mythology, the heaven-spanning giant Typhon had serpents for legs and a body "all winged" or feathered, as Apollodorus reported.

A key to the solution is the serpent's intimate connection with fire. Quetzalcoatl and his counterparts were typically envisioned as glowing entities manifesting themselves in lightning or other streaks of light displayed in the sky. The many feathers therefore point to flames of fire. In the mythology of the Brulé Sioux, Uncegila was a "huge snakelike monster" along whose back ran "a crest that sparkled like dancing flames …" Fire also burned from Typhon's hundred heads, in Greek tradition. It is easy to see how such flames could metaphorically be understood as feathers. Such an interpretation will bring the serpent’s feathers into agreement with other features of the cosmic serpent, such as its long-flowing hair, beard, or other fiery emanations (http://www.thunderbolts.info/tpod/2004/arch/040810mystery-cosmic-dragon.htm).

In an interdisciplinary context, the threaded texture of the dragon's countenance answers remarkably well to the filamentation of plasma. The fine, luminous strands symbolised as 'feathers' can be explained as strong filamentation displayed when plasma experiences intense electrical activity. High-energy discharge can give rise to what plasma physicists call a 'sawtooth'-formation, illustrated by the zigzag-shape seen in lightning flashes, but perhaps the spiky features of the dragon's body as well. A shock pulse operating on the upper atmospheric strata of the earth (or upon the plasma sheath of some other charged body in space) may cause "a rippling of the layer that rapidly develops into periodically spaced spike like features. These features, or 'spikes' then evolve … the shock impulse causes the generation of yet more instability spikes that themselves morph into yet more complex instability shapes." (Anthony Peratt).

At a time when the magnetic field of the earth experienced a major influx of charged particles from space, radiant plasma shapes with a heavily threaded surface might have formed that could go down in history as snake-like dragons covered in feathers. But were such forms contained within the upper atmosphere of the earth or, as others have suggested, external to the earth (though very close)? That question remains to be answered. One objective of Peratt’s work is to identify the precise placement of the formations, by comparing tens of thousands of ancient images carved on stone around the world. He believes that simple geometry, in combination with global positioning data, can settle the question.

Hi forteanajones,

Thanks for the article. The part about being associated with fire; I frequent another forum where a trucker who had a near death experience is going thru a life change, in habit and visions. He stated, "One insight that comes to mind is watching the sun just start to break over the mountain, when I saw spirit beings descending the suns rays as though they were using the suns energy as a motive force. I know they were beautiful, but am quite unable to describe them."

they left out at least one thunderbird/feathered serpent type beast from the list... the Piasa. the Piasa was a bird that terrorized tribes in middle america (in the areas of southern illinois). for generations the Piasa ruined crops and stole children in its talons. until a young shaman stood up to the bird and captured it. and to properly intomb the current of the bird he painted it's likeness on a rock face by Alta illinois.

BUT! around the late 1950's the board of tourism felt liek the image was painted in a bad spot, one where tourists might not see it. and since the image appeared to be disintegrating anyway the dingbats washed the image off teh rock face (unwittingly freeing the bird from it's psychic prison) and painted on a better rock face where folks driving down the highway could see it.

not too long after that southern illinois was virtually ruined from race riots and economic collapse.

believe me, this creature is alive and well, thriving in southern illinois. during the years i lived there it would often nuzle it's way into my and my friends visions and dreams and i had even run into other people, who knew nothing of our experiences, that would spontaneoulsy show me works of art, poetry, etc involving the piasa. strange thing.

like i said when i joined this board, i saw a green "cosmic serpent" back in august 2003, and i have never seen anything like it in ther sky, before or after...not even the most vivid of meteorides could match this dragon...and no scientific journal had it documented...so yes, this green dragon i encountered could devour, if let loose on earth...luckily it was in the celestial skies.....

love and respect,

Nanouk,
I am interested in the green cosmic serpent of which you speak. While meditating a green serpent flashed in my face, appearing before my eyes, which were closed, then disappeared. I have never experienced a vision like this before. It wasn't an image that drifted into my mind per usual, it had much more presence. Is this what clairvoyance is? I always thought clairvoyance was knowing things about people, which I seem to, but perhaps that is clairsentience? After this meditation I became afflicted with crippling back pain which lasted for two months. It occurred to me that this might be associated with blocked kundalini energy, which might also explain why I have been so depressed since then. Reading about Nanouk's green serpent brought it all together for me in a new way. Maybe you saw an image of celestial kundalini awakening, Nanouk.

This Piasa sure sounds a lot like the Mothman who also made numerous appearances over the years, most notably in the Point Pleasant area of West Virginia in '66 and '67. I hated the movie, but Keel's book offered some of the most hair-raising candlelight reading I've had the pleasure to experience. Lots of people described the Mothman as a fearsome demonic "bird" and many strange deaths have been linked to that creature. It even pursued a Red Cross Bloodmobile filled with fresh blood on a darkened highway once.

Edit: ah, I forgot, investigators had reported that Dakotas referred to Mothman sitings as Piasa. And apparently it was linked to the Thunderbird. Go figure, today has certainly been chock full of powerful synchronicities, this one being the first pleasant one!

yes, you guys are all right, this emerging thing in the sky was moth-like, but more as before metamorphosis, a caterpillar or worm in other words...

and maybe, possibly maybe, it was only a meteor spiralling through the sky, but my psyche said: cosmic serpent...i was in the right place, the allotments in my neighborhood, at the right time, the emerging strength to speak out about my spirituality(fuck'em all)...

Piasa, sounds peculiarly similar to Pizza...a little piece...of God.

And God is a Rock.

TT is the word of God, apparently, apart from Fiat i suppose....the frirst word a swedish child manages to say is normally "Titta" which means "Look"

We humans saw it, or our ancestors did anyway...(0;

And look up the Greek for the word Pizza in Babelfish.com- it will have TT in it, so does Fox, so does Father, Child, Thunderbird, Ben-Ben too...and hndreds of other words...

Thank You for Believing in the Green Cosmic Serpent, and thank you for looking for it...

Love and Respect,
~N~

Liked the Green Cosmic Serpent story Nanouk. My wife and I are both Red Cosmic Dragons according to the Mayan calendar. Have you checked out your birthday with that calendar? I think Arguelles has a thingy where one can do that at his site.
Is your one eyed Woten friend physical or spirit? Odin?
Really raining hard thru the Appalachians last night. Thor has thrown the hammer down.

Are there any William Henry fans here? He has a book about the Cloak of the Illuminati. He is a bit too technologically oriented for my taste. I think its a spiritual cloak. Anyhoo, unless I'm mistaken, he thinks 2012 will bring this technology of being able to put on this cloak and travel faster than the speed of light.

dudes check this out:

Question: What is the significance of the year 2012.

sri kalki bhagavan: OK. Most of you know that the earth has got a magnetic field. As the earth’s molten core is rotating; the magnetic field is created. The thought sphere of the human mind is located in the earth’s magnetic field. This mag-netic field has been weakening dramatically over last ten years.

Now, in physics there is a parameter called “Schumann´s resonance”. Using that we can determine the strength of the earth’s magnetic field. While for many centuries, it was constant around 7.80 cycles per second, during the last 7-8 years, it has risen to 11 cycles per second and is continuing to increase dramatically. If you work it out mathematically, it appears that, by the year 2012, the "Schuman´s" is likely to be 13 cycles per second. When this reso-nance is 13 cycles per second, the earth’s core would stop rotating with mag-netic field gone, you mind is gone. When I say "your mind", what I mean is your "samskaras". The pressure of the past 11.000 years of samskaras will vanish.

In the dharma, we also say, “mind is karma”. All actions start from your mind. the mind is nothing but a storehouse of samskaras or past life vasanas from which all action emanates. This is stored in the earth’s magnetic field. So in the year 2012, it will become zero for a few days. After that the core will start rotating again. This would be a fresh beginning for man or the dawn of the golden age. This is the significance of the year 2012. How do we know, it will happen? The study of fossil records has shown that, it happens roughly after 11.000 years. It’s only a short time away and then we can all start afresh. That is why I want you to become enlightened by 2012. If you are enlight-ened, with all your samskaras gone, we can begin a new yuga, which can be called sathya yuga or the golden age. Man will enter into a new state of al-tered consciousness.

As I told you already, the earth’s resonance is increasing which means the earth’s heart is undergoing a transformation. The earth has got a physical body, like you have a body. It has got a consciousness as well. Now as the resonance is increasing the earths heart functioning very differently from before. Now, your heart and the earth’s heart are connected. The earth’s heart can be influ-enced by your heart and vice versa. That is why, it is essential that your heart-beat synchronises with the earth’s resonance. This means your heart must flower. Your heart will flower when you discover love in your relationships.

If you have discover love, you must stop judging your parents, spouses, etc., internally. Nobody can be judged as the whole universe directly influences all events, even the behaviour of the people.

So learn to experience life. Life has to be experienced, be it pain or pleasure.

hi Buzz, yes i have checked out the Arguelles calendar...i found it through Ian Lungold a while ago...i think i am born on a Blue Lunar Storm Day, and my symbol is Yellow Cosmic Crystal...i am a Blue Moon child as well, so the two colours combined makes...Green. (0:

My friend Wodin is very much alive, so is Van Gogh, Wodin lost sight on one eye playing too closely with fireworks under the influence of hard drugs, he has been a user for nearly fifteen years, but after his accident, he was put on Morphine for 6 weeks, and developed a craving for IV intake, and started to inject MDMA...a sad story, really, he pops pills(tranquilizers)like noone else i have met, and when i met him for the first time, he hadn't slept for a week because he was off the needle. we took him to the Isle of Avalon and climbed up the Tor. he made it, although it was a struggle. he slept that night...
talked with him last week(he lives in London)and he seems to hang in there, no needles again as far as i know...
It is amazing what people will sacrifice for wisdom, Wodin lost an eye, and nearly his life, to drugs...i dunno if he feels any wiser, but with time i am sure happiness will find it's way into his heart again...

Love and Respect,
Nanouk
