View Full Version : The Truth Behind Tainted Spinach
I plan to spend more of my dollars with local farmers and farmers markets. I think it's a very important issue that most people aren't even consciously aware of.

The e. coli spinach scare prompted cries for better regulation and inspection, but the drama distracts us from something much bigger: a vast industrial food system built on cheap, empty calories.
I think there is something is spinach they don't want us to have. I will
go buy a shitload of it today (local organic).

There are rumors in Dallas that the spinach was genetically engineered, and the e-coli was systemic--thus you could not wash it clean, or cook it lightly and kill the pathogen. That was the reason for the massive recall.
The mystery and conflicting stories surrounding this event continue to fascinate.
It is interesting, considering all the spinach that must have been consumed before the source of the (rather limited) outbreak was discovered, that the sickness and death toll was so low. It is said that the one fatality was on an anti-arthritic drug that lowers one's resistance. A course of antibotic treatment also lowers the resistance to e-coli--I wonder how many of those who did get sick were on antibiotics beforehand.

not sure if this news was international or even into the US, but around the same time as the spinach thing, a least 2 canadians were paralysed after drinking contaminated carrot juice-

now as synchronicity, coincidence or conspiracy goes... this all came around the same time as n.koreas nukes-- suggesting to some, to be scared, forget about eating healthy and do as told.
