Hi Everyone!

I'm here to introduce to announce a community project we're starting called Datachurch.com (http://www.datachurch.com).

Purpose: the site is meant to form a nexus where people can access information that will allow them to develop as people. We recognize that individual development leads to cultural development, and we want to foment that process through the site. We are looking for allies in this cause. :)

Format: we put up information by means of directly downloadable or watchable audio, video and text. The site that is up right now at Datachurch.com is a beta version of the site we are building. As time goes on, we will add interactive web 2.0 style portions of the site that will allow users to add and edit content directly on the site.

Right now, I'd just like to get people like you checking out the site, telling me what you think, and sending me information you'd like to see up on the site.

Thank you very much!

Marisa

We are trying to keep the browsing as simple as possible by putting all the information we can onto one page. My partner designed the site. Do you have any information you're spreading- of your own or of someone elses- that you'd like to put on the site? We're working out the PHP right now so that adding content will be very easy on our end, I'm hungry for other people's research to be up there. : )

Are you talking about NNDB? NNDB is fascinating- if you put a layer of mayan birthdate meaning over the database they made, or even current astrological birthdate implications, its totally exciting! I just got finished making my own database of everyone I know and their sign. I'm hoping to learn from it and its working so far.

I'm not sure I understand your question completely- I googled the date and NNDB was the most relevant thing I could see from a first sweep. Ask me more so I know what you're talking about :)

Inaguration day Data.
I think a good avenue for your work would be to identify groups with messianic type leaders or others who have found themselves in such a unique position of being a peaceful psychotic armed only with the power of God,and maybe a little money.
Do some interviews with them and watch the synchronicities flow.Maybe he or she will be the spark that moves us into an age of true enlightment.
I know a couple of people in NYC -very successful movie makers who with a little urging might be interested in such a project.
Christmas might be a little early to put it all together but that is definitely a way to a real "reality" show.
Thank's for the kind posts.

...yet dearly I love you,and eagerly again,
but am bethrothed unto your enemy.

Divorce me,unite,or unbreak that knot again,
take me unto you,do not imprison me again
except that ye enthrall me,never to be free,
Nor chaste,except you ravage me.

hi datachurch folks,

nice start with the site. For each of your "People," I think you might include a section for "Interviews" or at least include it in the "text" area - there are a number of interviews with me that would be good to have up there (RU Sirius, Nonprophet, DailyGrail, etc.). Also it might be good to have "Criticism" not by them but of them - reviews of their books, and so on.

It would be cool to have a community / collaborative filtering piece so that people could recommend thinkers and texts, which would collect votes, then filter to the top of the heap. Actually the community here might be a good group for exploring such a feature. Apparently Wikipedia is offering a new free community hosting service (OpenServer, I think?). I haven't checked it out yet, but it is offering the collaborative filtering mechanism (like Diggdott etc).

I wonder what you could offer as a revenue generator (actually, I wonder what I could offer as a revenue generator also, but since forteanajones was abducted by aliens (??), I don't know how to even discuss it). Maybe the platform you are creating could be repurposed and utilized for other more prosaic types of thinkers - marketing gurus, etc - just as a way to bring in some $$ to allow you to develop it to a deeper level?

i would suggest adding (my own) favorite folk such as alan watts, joseph campbell and stanislav grof to the list of great psychedelicos..huxley obviously.. ott, strassman, shulgin too. jung? leary? and maybe people like jeremy narby, dan carpenter, jean houston and jim dekorne. myron stolaroff and maybe a comprehensive literature-list. i do have a great deal of data on most of them and will be happy to help to figure out what to use. just 'primate message' me if you're interested.

also, normally i use a large 20" screen with a hi-res display, but as i'm home for christmas, sitting at a small 15" one, i do think the site and the html-frames seems a bit messy or un-economic or whatever. just a thought.

..and i know it's a tough and pretty ambitious idea, but hyperlinking, perhaps by a visual thread even, the ideas and topics would be pretty smart. it could then grow organically, people could help with the linking and the adding of info and so on.. what do you think about that? like how logical positivism feeds into psychotherapy and a cross-reference to hyperdimensional entities and how they appear or are treateds in various of those schools.. you could of course also just limit the topics to a set few and then, maby let users' suggestions attach as footnotes..

i believe in your church, and try to go more than every other sunday! :)

I love that term ‘a revenue generator’ ;) , it has the kind of flavor of double speak that the government might use like its use of the term ‘secret rendition’ for secret prisons and torture.

As for forteanajones, I am concerned for his well being and not the small amount of money that he may have had some control. I personally have had private e-mail messages with him and wrote to him about the fact daniel has been trying to reach him; I too have gotten no response. From our previous correspondences I find it very hard to believe he would have done anything unethical with the monies from ‘PayPal’; I have a real concern for his well being.

As a former artist myself, first in abstract painting and later photography, the problem of a ‘revenue generator’ is just not a real expectation in the work we are all doing at BOTH.

Hey Marisa,

I posted about your site on my weblog this week, before I read this post. I forget exactly how I came across the site.

http://www.memenexus.blogspot.com/

I posted about it because I thought it was a really interesting idea.

Where are you at in terms of funding? Are you looking for unpaid volunteers right now or do you have some money for research, etc?

Datachurch, I was immediately struck by the graphics for the site banner. Whoever designed it is quite obviously highly versed in occult symbolism, as the site instantaneously spoke volumes.

CHEERS!!
