coming down from a rap on ketamine; erik davis and terence in conversation, this made me oscillate:

mckenna: and lilly is, you know.. john is a juggernaut! do you know him?

davis: no.

mckenna: oh my god... john is such a trip. i mean some people are JUST...

davis: you see, he's like, i mean, he's really.. kinda out!

mckenna: oh, definantly!

davis: ..like immediatly: this guy's out of..

mckenna: yeah, this guy is.. there's nobody home. this guy can not be left alone at home. he's like me! (laughs) what a trip! and such, you know, an amaaazing arrogance. an amazing conviction of you're own.. that you've got it aaall figured out, you know. yeah, a relentless character. he told me once, (giggles) we were at escalon, (whispering) i don't know what we were doing, just the two of us standing somewhere, and he said: "nature loves you ruthlessly!" and i thought, "hmm well, that's an interesting observation, what does ruthlessly actually mean?" (laughs)

davis: was he speaking specifically about you?

mckenna: yeah, he and i were the only two people present, it was just a private conversation.
he used to have this obi-wan kenobi robe, that he wore around escalon, that was just hillarious.. and he would just show up out of the fog, you know, to lay these raps on on you. yeah, they didn't make too many of john.

This is a bit off-topic, but it does relate to Lilly. I’m planning on trying out one of those Lilly type sensory deprivation things. I was wondering if anyone has ever done it, and if there would be any advice going in. For instance, I saw you can have music (but it seems a little at cross-purposes, doesn’t it). One big question: should I try it high or straight (its expensive, so I may only do it once.). Is it good to try to do something meditative, or just let the mind flow and go? Any experiences anyone would like to share, I’d be appreciative.

i'd say to go at it straight as an arrow. no coffee for a couple days and not too many metal tasks. maybe after a relaxed weekend... just cop-out, and don't expect anything much..

psilocybin-tea would probably guarantee a more effective experience, it would though to my mind be just as cross-purposed as with music.. at least as far as the firsts go. i think after a couple times where you've experienced yourself for yourself, one could try introducing whatever elements one for whatever reasons think interesting. if it's a one time thing, straight is what i say.

Thanks CD, that sounds like sound advice. I still may go in high, but I'll think about it. It sounds like you've done it several times. Any notes?
