I loved both this book, and Breaking Open The Head, too.
I've proudly passed both books along to a few "special" friends, and have rigidly avoided mentioning either book, as well as many topics raised in both of them, to many other friends who are not "special" in the same way as the others are...maybe you'll agree that there are only certain people you can discuss these things with, or expect to read and enjoy these books and ideas.
I have a few things in common with Daniel I think...maybe they are just synchronicities ... when I was just 19 I went to Europe, and eventually Africa as I dodged the draft to avoid being sent to Vietnam ... I was reading a very popular book at the time called FINGERPRINTS OF THE GODS by Hancock, amazed at his description of Egyptian heiroglyphs that showed space aliens interacting with Egyptians of the day...I later saw these glyphs in Luxor, in the Valley of the Kings as I toured King Tut's tomb ... I never forgot seeing that! I'm a bit older than Daniel, but I tried lots of psychedelics in my 20's, then tapered off and got a real job and a real life and now only smoke pot chronically (again, no pun), but while reading B.O.T.H. I slipped right back into that psychedelic frame of mind, and connected easily with Daniels thoughts and theories.
I've had some of the same misgivings about my success as a husband and father too...and before I even knew about 2012 I had booked my trip to London later this year to see my favorite rock band, Pearl Jam, whose new record is astounding, featuring the song SEVERED HAND, supposedly about Eddie Vedder's Ayahuasca experience. Since reading 2012 I've also made plans to meet with Lucy Pringle, one of the best known photographers of crop circles, who lives near Glastonbury.
I don't know if anything Daniel has written is true, but it has made me want to explore on my own, which I bet is what he'd want anyone who reads him to do...I want to see the crop circles for myself...I want to dring Yage and Iboga and see the visions for myself, and I want to be open minded about what might happen on 12/21/12. I just found both of these books to be highly entertaing (no pun!) and motivational ... I admire Daniel's curiosity and courage. I will report back from the other side too I hope.
