I bought this book called the 4 agreements from Miguel Ruiz, at first I was very reluctant to get it, it sounded to me like a Castaneda reap off New Ager type, but I was in an airport and with nothing to read so I caved in.
Well I have to say that to my surprise, that the book has some very sound spiritual teachings, it is writing in a simple language and very easy to understand at the end of the reading I was glad that purchased it.
Does any one know anything more about the author is he the real thing? or just a clever writer.

By the way I tried to put this under Shamanism and science, but was not allowed accesses? Maybe something wrong there?

Last year I bought The Four Agreements for exactly the same reason: I was in an airport and had nothing to read. I, too, suspected it of being a cheap Castaneda ripoff, and ended up liking it, though I never finished it. Is Ruiz the real thing? Sure he is. Aren't you? Aren't I? Is he trying to sell what he knows? Sure. You're glad he did, right? It would have been a boring few hours otherwise! And yeah, he says good things.

Hmmmm. The other thing I wanted to note was that it's funny that he calls himself don Miguel Ruiz. I guess if you want to publish a book, and your name is Miguel Ruiz, you better call yourself don Miguel Ruiz!

William Least Heat Moon, the author of Blue Highways, visited my high school many years ago and said he had no luck whatsoever publishing it as long as he called himself by his "white" name, William Parker (or whatever it is), but it got snapped up the second he used his Indian name.

Peace,
