Hello Daniel,

firstly, well done on your fine book, it is even more of an eye opener than i thought it would be. Secondly, have you come across john keel's work and the whole mothman/MIB phenomena in Virginia during the 60s? If you have not had chance to take this stuff in I highly recommend it even if his conclusions are bleak (with which i dont agree). Anyone else out there familiar with Keel? I think he would have reached different conclusions if he had had a shamanic perpective on things.

can't get to it right now, so please tell me, what are his conclusions?

MIB's, UFO's, mothman, fairies... all manifestations of the Id. basically they are projections from the human mind, culled from our subconsciousnesses, to provide an understandable representation for beings that may have no actual physical substance. they need shapes to appear to us, so they search our minds, and find whatever appeals to them, depending on how they want to look... kind of like the 'hungry ghosts' in that other thread... of course in the case of the MIB's they want to project fear, unlike friendly angels from the galactic brotherhood, or count st.germaine, who want you to like them, and keep feeding them. interestingly enough, keel uncovered evidence of celtic MIB's, strange men, dressed in black cloaks, or riding gear, warning mortals away from the business of the fairy folk. man similar details with todays MIB's. the same unworldly akwardness about their manner.

This sounds like the local priest to me!

hey Daniel, Keel concludes that basically everything from bigfoot to UFOs/MIBs and aliens are temporary constuctions of matter created by inter/extra dimensional beings that are appearing in our 4 dimensional reality. This i dont have a problem with but he goes on to talk of God possibly being insane and that all these beings dont have anoything better to do than toy around with us to fill their long/eternal lives, which i think is a bit simplistic but he did not have a sacred drugs/shamanic perspective on these things as shamans were generally thought to be insane around the time he was writing most of his theories down. he is stil alive last i heard, but is very old now. The book to read on this is 'the mothman prophecies' by Keel as it is very comprehensive as regards to his work.

hey agent smith, thats interesting about the celtic MIBS, didnt know that, its hard to get hold of a lot of Keels stuff now, i only have the reprinted Mothman book that was released to tie in with the film. you talk of these being 'feeding' or being fed by hummans, this also interests me as to the nature of a relationship that can be formed between beings through such feeding. would you see this feeding as mutual and actually heathly in some respects? i.e. between a God and a human, although obviously in some maybe many cases this can be a parastic relationship which is negative and even destructive.

One more vote here for Keel. Mothman Prophecies was my first and favorite paranormal research book and I have very fond memories about reading it.

Keel also got a lot of heat from the UFO/paranormal communities, on top of the usual media responses we're all familiar with here for books of that nature. I think he was even unofficially black-listed from certain publications and circles.
