I had a dream the other night, one that I can't shake....I was being led to a run-down industrial type office building that seemed to be in the middle of a forest.

The whole time I knew something wasn't right about the building...when I walked in I knew something wasn't right. The exterior of the building was much smaller than the interior and it opened up into a vast expanse of rooms and warehouses where various people were milling about, performing what appeared to be meaningless tasks as if they were waiting for some unknown event to snap them into action.

The size and scale can be attributed to what it must have felt like for Charlie Bucket to be inside Wonka's factory but with certainly less candy and not an oompa loompa in sight...

My unknown guide and I stepped into an elevator that was more like the cart in Hitchhiker's Guide or like the Glass Elevator but a much more intense ride up, down, left, right, and shot across the world-like warehouse.

We finally got to our main destination which definitely wasn't what I expected to be the boss' office...the hallways were short and narrow, almost labryinth like...they opened into rooms that contained fountains not unlike the ones you will see adoring the streets in Rome.

Finally we got to the office which had a large mahogany desk in the middle with fireplaces on either side. I remember being very afraid upon entering this room. Then I realized why: I was being watched by something in the shadows above the door I just entered. The object jumped from the doorway to the leather seat behind the desk and looked as though it...or he had always been there.

I knew this was the Minotaur without even reading his nameplate. He wasn't all bull though...his face seemed to continuously shift from human to bull sometimes half/half. He had very large features and his face reminded me of a stretched and weathered Paul Hogan/Andre the Giant.

He told me that the reason I was there was to battle him. It had been done this way since his existence and he never lost, but he always wanted to train his opponents. The next thing I knew I was hanging from the wall and looking down on him...he was wearing a cloak that had multicolored lights ringing the neck.

I woke up and went to the bathroom, when I came back my partner was wide awake and shivering...she was pointing at the corner of our room where she swore she was watching a man with big features watching her while taking a drink of something. She could see him as clear as day and I couldn't...I wonder if it was the Minotaur or my guide dropping me off...

Good story J. Thanks for posting.

Back 20 plus years ago I was making Minotaurs out of clay, but they had Bison heads. I had a couple of powerful dreams about the minotaur during that period.

Unfortunately I didn't write them down but I do remember this much, the first dream of him was as a ferociously powerful creature, larger than a man with incredible physical strength. In my dream he was contained by metal chains that held him to a central stake. This all took place in a corn field. He tugged at his chains and lashed out at people on the periphery of the radius in which he was chained. The corn plants were all smashed flat in his area and plants were thin along the edges. It was night. In the dream I had a mix of sympathy and a healthy fear of this creatures power.

In the second dream, weeks later, I dreamed of being in a brick apartment building with a narrow alleyway between me and the building across the alley. I heard a commotion outside in the alley and poked my head out the window to see what was going on. I must have been on the first or second floor, fairly close to the ground. I looked to my left and there was the Minotaur again. He was dressed in silk robes. There were some people down the alley in his general vicinity. They seemed to be having an arguement or some vocally loud disagreement. When I peered out the Minotaur turned towards me and threw some sort of colored light at me. I bolted back into the room and woke up.

While the dreams of others are generally yawningly banal, these dreams awakened my own minotaur.

Last night, I dreamed I was riding the crest of a huge Green wave--it rushed across the sleeping earth like the sunrise.

What did you dream last night?
