Yeah,I went to that gathering too.
Hung out with the NORML crowd.
Everday, someone would shit right outside my tent.
Funny how you always remember some things.

Forked from: John Lash on 2012 and "end time" tribes (http://www.breakingopenthehead.com/forum/showpost.php?postid=33858)

i was reading "Madame Blavatsky's Baboon" which led me to come to the esoteric philosophy joint here to read the two articles on 2012. I think i want to read jl's books now. He's intellectual, but not impossible to understand.

i'm not easy to categorize but see myself as an Orgiastic/Sustainer. I wish I could bring myself to go to more gatherings of tribes--I actually was at a Rainbow Gathering 1987 where everyone was talking about Harmonic convergence but it all sounded silly to me, and I saw no evidence of anything unusual.
I'm more of a sustainer now. I do a lot of knitting-- it's my main thing--making clothing for warmth ---ancient female craft.

all-in-all I enjoyed the author's categorizations of tribes and found myself agreeing with his view of the world. That Metahistory website that the articles were on seemed to be really fine, I'm gonna definitely go back to it. that was great reading, I've been thinking a lot about these issues.
gotta get off this computer...

In a way, it's what I loved about rainbow gatherings. You had the lofty New Age pomps and the street people all mixing at one big party where we had to cooperate to survive. Very glad to have experienced it.
it was interesting: at the Pennsylvania one in 1999 or 2000? Some of the same kids who were at the gathering ended up going to Woodstock that year; which because of the environment ended up in riots and devastation; while the gathering had been in nature with some of the same people and was the same wonderful pool of mostly benevolent humanity that it always is. goes to show what being in an ugly, airless environment can do to people.

Let me guess. You're talking about new Jersey aren't you G?

The primitive stuff might be ok if you're younger than 30 and have no kids but for me it seemed a waste of human possiblities.

I guess I see the horizon of the dawning of my life.

I enjoy the finer things of life. And alot more of it.

Is that greedy or is it how it is supposed to be that way.
Loaded question for God.
Bless his hir heart.

Wasn't 87 up near Santa Fe?

Well, I've only been to Missouri, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. I think the North Carolina one was the Harmonic Convergence one.
When I went to the Pennsylvania one, being older--I cheated and went to town a few times to eat and to poop.
I have some ideas about how to make them easier for older people after dealing with elderly the last couple years. The muddy paths make things very grueling sometimes...
