So, say I want to take my girlfriend for a week-long holiday in the UK visiting sacred sites and hopefully fresh crop circles as well? Anyone have any tips about tour groups, packages, simple solutions for this kind of idea? Should I plan on renting a car?

Thanks in advance for any good leads...

It is very quiet this year. One circle so far...

Although, it has been raining a lot in May. June is looking much sunnier. The first circle turned up yesterday: http://www.cropcircleconnector.com/2006/2006may.html

As for sacred sites, wiltshire area contains stonehenge, avebury, silbury hill and numerous neolithic and bronze age barrows, all wthin a shortish bus ride. I was there for a week recently, and it is easily navigable by bus with some walking. There are several military bases and firing ranges in the area though, so take a good map if you go exploring off the beaten track.

Also maybe bear in mind that stonehenge is a major tourist attraction, and you can almost guarantee there'll be a hundred or so folk milling about. You also have to pay to see the stones. There are far more beautiful places around, and as it takes a little work to find them they can be very peaceful and atmospheric.

This site is very user friendly, and should help you research your trip:

Hope this is some help. Have fun!
