Very intriguing:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inedia

I did quite a bit of research about the subject matter over the last two years and truly dig it!

Obviously the 'common man' would argue that every creature in the known evolution is an example that Inedia must be bogus however I would argue that it is the next level.

Interestingly it seems extemely hard to reach this level prematurely, agreed upon documentation there is only Nicolas von der Fluehe in Switzerland during the 1500's and Therese Neumann (von Konnersreuth) who actually lived up to to 1960's if I recall correct.

Also interesting to see how the Wikipedia entries about Inedia differ within European countries, in Italy and France picures are posted of starving Biafra children from Nigeria for instance (which gives away the age and latest update of the authors...they should update your cerebral database from 1979 and actually visit some of the places..) while the German version is quite neutral and 'just so'.

I had never heard the term inedia before. Pretty comprehensive article at Wikipedia. Drew Hempel has recently posted some info here on breathairianism, in which he mentioned the book Pranic Living and Healing by Luis R. Vas (or at least I think that's how I heard of it) and I just got a copy of it a couple of days ago.

(also just noticed today that amazon has changed their links again and book titles are included in the links)
I first heard of this in Viktoras Kulvinskas' classic book Survival Into the 21st Century, which came out in the 70's and is kind of the bible of raw foods vegetarianism. I have read alot about fasting and went for 13 days a couple of times (long ago) drinking lots of carrot juice. Dick Gregory (the comedian/activist)is probably the top world authority on fasting. He goes on a 40-day water-only fast every year and fasted for I think several years to protest the VietNam war. To totally go without food or water would probably require that you are pretty well plugged in to some energy flow. Which is totally normal and everyone's birthright, but easier said than done. In other words you would probably need to be a total master of yoga and meditation. Perhaps someday there will be no food and then we'll all see, but for now I'm eating as good as I can.

Actually now that I've read the article at Wikipedia, it certainly seems to be a bit one-sided. Lots of interesting stuff though.

The topic of course cannot be discussed with someone who operates only from a rational perspective. You might as well discuss you personal drug consumption habits with a cop.

There is not much literature out there and Jashmuheen seems totally falling in a spaced off NewAge category. I read a good book (in German only) from a regular guy who might still be breatherian (since a lot of breatherians supposedly don't stay on their zero diet forever and choose to eat again, keeping their option open on going back). He underwent a couple weeks of tests in a Swiss hospital which confirmed excellent health.

In the past inedia clearly was not even discussed and only occurred in religious context. Therese von Konnersreuth had an accident in her youth and was bed ridden for a long time with a damaged back. Supposedly for periods she could not even see nor hear. Now imagine that and how your mind would react to such a situation. Talking about extremes...She was a breatherian confirmed by the catholic church.

Anyway, I could imagine that with the changes that 2012 brings and the difficult developments in general inedia might be accessible for a much larger percentage of the population. It certainly would have the single most environmental friendly impact, considering of how much land is currently dedicated to growing feed for animals (which in return become food for the insatiable human race).

Inedia is brand-spankin' new to me--but I have been sungazing every morning for months now, and I have experienced greater energy, creativity and clarity, as well as a diminished appetite.
Thanks for the topic!

Follow you where? The topic is meant for intellectual discourse and is not part of an established esoteric system that draws people in. I am not a breatherian myself, I don't plan to become one and hereby refrain from encouraging others (of any form and shape - as obese as they might be) to experiment with such dangerous ideas since liability could bite me in the ass.

C'm on, how much legal shit are you exposed to on a daily basis to think that this is the next big (sick) thing to make money off...
