Age of Pisces vs. Age of Aquarius
We are currently transferring from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius. You may have heard the song? "When the moon is the in seventh house, and Jupiter aligns with Mars, then peace will guide the planets and love will rule the stars, this is The Dawning of the Age of Aquarius..." The Age of Pisces encompasses the last 2,000 years of human history. Roughly from the death of Christ to now. Pisces in astrology represents the dissolution of material, earthy, and tangible existence in favor of relating directly to the divine. Its symbol is The Twin Fishes (although in mideival times the glyph actually referred to The Twin Dolphins which I feel much better exemplifies the humanistic, compassion, and insight that Pisceans inhabit). Fish being Christs' gift, along with bread, to his disciples. So Pisces also represents sacrifice, love, solitude, hermitdom, martyrdom, faith, hope, selflessness, and compassion. The motto of Pisces is "We Believe" so it also represents a relation to the divine which is ascendant, depending on Man relating to the Divine as something which is distant, unfathomable, untouchable, and unreachable. There can be no rational knowledge of the divine, it is simply beyond us so rather than knowing of it, we can only believe in it. The schism of Heaven and Earth, if you will. The Age of Pisces has been called the Age of Religion, and as you know from history the past two thousand years have been highly noted for wars involving differences in religious beliefs with untold millions perishing in their fires.
The Age of Aquarius is represented by Buddha and its motto is "We Know". Instead of utting religion/divinity on an ethereal pedestal like the preceding age, Aquarius asks us to experience divinity at the human level. Aquarius is the sign of brotherhood, technology, the future, individualism, the community, humanitarianism, equality, innovation, spontaneity, sudden change. Its represented by the double wave glyph which is thought to invoke waves of energy, wavelengths denoting the shocking revelations and innnovations members of this sign are said to produce. The Aquarian Age calls forth humanity to embrace all people of all races as inherent equals. In Aquarius, there is no higher, no lower, no distant governing bodies, no dictators. It calls for self-rule, but more importantly, "self-rule with mutual aid". The ideal consists of a cooperative community in which all rules are made through a unanimous consensus of the whole communal body. It also calls for self-rule with mutual aid. It praises the individual's freedom and selfdom but also desires to help all in the commune. Spiritually it asks all individuals to recognize their self-rulership and as kings of themselves, take the power they would normally lord over others and transform it into humanitarian aid and help for their fellow human kings and queens, all 6.5 billion of them. This is the archetype of the next two thousand years before the zodiac preceeds into Capricorn.
