My partner, Doublecross, is haranguing me into giving up smoking, and it appears from an article in today's NYTimes that Obama's wife made him quit too.
Here's what i posted at the Times Webworld:
"People who give up smoking are quitters.
All this desperate flailing around for a few extra miserable nursing home-doctor appointment-filled years just sickens me.
If it's good enough for John Berger, Lewis Lapham, Christopher Hitchens, Castro, And Philip K. Dick, it's good enough for me.
did you know that some communist countries encourage their citizens to smoke? That's because smokers usually die neatly of a quick stroke, heart attack, or lung cancer (the quickest and most painless cancer going)
right at the time that their usefullness to society starts to decline, and the expense of keeping them around increases!
Between 58 and 62.
Knowing Obama was once a smoker (but that controlling dragon lady of a wife made him quit!) makes me want to vote for him even more."
will the censors let it go online? who knows? it depends on what sort they have enslaved to monitor posts.

They posted me @ the NYTimes--im # 123.
Get a load of #129, JP from NC:
"Your article about Obama and smoking was hilarious, but even more comical has been reading all the negative response. Coming from a family who used tobacco in some form ever since this country was founded, and who all lived past the age of 100 (even those who left us in the 1700's), the current obsession of all these young people to live forever and think they have control of it, is ludicrous. I have news for all of you; if you really think that eating all the "right" food and staying away from tobacco is going to let you do that you had better go back to studying both religion and history. Not only will you die, but you can never handpick the manner or the time - no matter what you stay away from. If you really want to enjoy the life you might have past this minute, you would be better off just calming down and staying out of everybody else's business. I am in my 80's and I can tell you that while growing old has it's own built in problems caused simply by the bodies natural processes, it doesn't help any to think we raised children who think they know better than the God who created them. You all need to go to MacDonald's, grab a couple of burgers with your cell phone at one ear and your i-pods at the other and chill out a little. But I imagine you are probably afraid to do that because more people are killed by car's than anything else, and 'heaven forbid', there are cars in the parking lot!"

Yes Willow I have heard the same argument from many of my patients.
All died from pneumonia.
Your poster,I suspect,is lying about or mistaken about several things.
If you're going to smoke. Why not just pot? It has no nicotine(a vit C antagonist)
If you do continue smoking-and I suspect you will-be sure and take extra vitamin C.
I'm not sure what the tree of life in the Garden of Eden was but I'm convinced it had lot of Vit.Si.
Hee Haw
and again are you guys interested in my mineral interests in Carter County?

that is so true my brilliant (if slightly deranged) Isaiah.
I was just thinking about my grandfather last night, choking and drowning for two years
before the waters finally dragged him down.

My grandfather died of emphysema, when it turned mercifully finally into Pneumonia one day, and dragged him down.
Actually I love/hate doublecross, and im glad mad that he made me give up smoking.
i smell better now. in both senses.

Actually Willow, most of find problems stem from the fact I am doomed for the rest of my life trying to find a lawyer who will work.
I offer them my research,my contacts,my money but can't get any of them to do much more than take on more clients to frustrate.:errf:
I'm so ready to build a new temple and to spend more time in the Pecos and Old Mexico.

58 and 62? huh? maybe in 1840. and then we wouldnt get the fantastic wisdom of the oldsters like jp from nc. thanks for sharing that willow.
smokers smell like s--t.
my grandfathers died of lung cancer and emphysema. i miss them. and it seems to me the quest for immortality fills a lot of this website's members' heads.

I must come clean; lately my moments have been consumed by efforts to tighten my mind, body, and estate, for the long emergency.
Suebee, 1.5 billion children are smelling the fumes of industry gone mad, as they assemble our ipods and bluetooths across the globe. for 11 hours a day, seven days a week. stop it now.
McCain looks older and whiter every day, as he talks of gobbling the last crumbs of the cake.

dont bitch at me i dont have either of those and i quit buying coral and never bought or had one diamond bought for me and i write my idiot reps and senators weekly and i have been stressing over starving children since i was f. five. so there! the world is mad and we have to be the change we envision: calm, rational, caring. its all the wisdom i can come up with that makes any sense at my advanced age. the dalai lama has it right.
i love your metaphors.

Listen SB,DC,and any of you EXPERIENCED in the law.
I now have in my hand copy of 7 hr Deposition of Me.:D
I can't get my lawyer by meeting or e-mail for advice what to do with it.
Each of you know, any monies received in this issue will be partly directed in obtaining proper living arrangements in at least Old and New Mexico.
Should I really add all my thoughts in correcting the depo SB or just sit on it. Willow.(By the way I'll sell that oil well and other mineral rights in Carter County for almost chicken feed.I want to buy a medium sized wind generator-about 10k Willow and DC.)

isaiah you have a limited time to correct it. did your attorney seem dismayed at the end of the depo? what did she say after it?
do not go into detail over small issues. if you said no when you should have said yes, thats about the only thing you want to change. less is more.
if there is time and you are completely stressing, copy it and overnight it to me.

Too late.As I've added a good 3 days of additional testimony, facts and evidence.
The only thing I am stressing about is if my lawer will do the work requested of heras quickly as possible.Get the issues set for trial. We have all the witnesses we need.
I at least doubled the amount of work that the court reporter will have to do in her corrections.Makes no difference though. The other side pays.In God we trust.
I guess though,if you think it is really important I could tell them I lost it and just sign the original and get the process rolling a little faster.:D
Unbelivable amout of stress up north and all over I guess with the price of everything rising or floating away.
I did such a good job of seven hrs of grilling during depo.I sure hope they don't put me through another-although I'm sure they'll go after Pat too. That's what one of the lads is trying to do.Make us scapegoats.:skeptic:

I hate to interrupt this imp. legal talk, but must hold up a humble trembling forefinger and plead, "My dear Bee, i wasn't bitchin u. I was thinking about my own miserable attempts to do right (Like putting on a raincoat because a force 5 hurricane is forecast)--[btw, you don't OWN an ipod or a bluetooth. . .do you?]
isaiah, buying things is so passe' --haven/'t you seen those Greek things like eno9ourmous bedsheets? just make your own. a lot more fun. i mean wind machines.

Willow,
Please be careful,we need you.
I'm much into conqueoring the world and building my own pyramid to to take the time to build a machine that can still-with a little luck-be assebled and shipped from China far cheaper than me buying one or two American one's here here.
Are you in Santa Fe.
If I were in Santa Fe I'd be starting early too.

im so jealous. i love that drink in the morning but lately i seem to suffer the same result: 'been there, done that.'
Summer Solstice: the sabbat name is Litha. Celebrated as the divine union of goddess and god and in the fruitful blessings of Great Mother Earth.
i wanted to hike in the redwoods and create a spell, but its 102 degrees. seriously. at least no wind - we had another small fire only 700 acres but this one delivered a light ash fall like billions of zigzagging bugs. creepy.
no, i dont have an ipod, i find i dont even turn on music in the car that much and i cant imagine a bluetooth whatever it is really, something attached to one's ear? electronics mostly leave me cold. the last computer game i played was in 1975.
but id buy a wind generator if it would take me off the grid. "get the people on board off the grid."
happy happy solstice willow, and all you BOTHheads.

One of my favorite days is the summer solstice; even this day in the Bay Area where the fog is gone and 90 degree plus temperature is here at nearly 6:00 pm on the west coast.

Dream of winter my friend.:p
And SB,those affordable windgenerators are made by the Hummer Wind Machines.
Perhaps we could have a couple delivered to the west coast and you could escort them here, along, with at least several bottles of wine.:D
