View Full Version : I healed my cat?

I don't know anything about shamanism really. I've read McKenna's thoughts and Daniel's of course, but I've always considered the healing stuff too beyond me--and I actually didn't really believe it to some extent. Now I'm not so sure. The other day I noticed my cat was walking slow and stumbly. I checked him out and his eyes were rolling in his head. I instinctively thought "fever" so I dunked his body in a pail of water and took him inside. He was so out of it I told my girlfriend, "He's a goner." That night I was stroking his side (he was gone, limp, wouldn't even flinch at me flashing my fingers at his face). To my surprise he started to purr slightly when he exhaled. I tought: "Thats promising" and continued. As I did I felt like my hand was "doing" something, something was "resonating" in the purrs into my hand. (I thought: "I'm F'n silly" but I went on with it.) I expected he'd be dead in the morning. (Here's where it gets cool.) That night I dreamed I was checking out the cat. Suddenly worms started coming out of his skin on his belly. I held him up and began squeezing the worms out. A disgusting pile of worms flowed out and fell into a kind of grate or drain. A while later I woke up and thought: "The cats gonna live. He's got a parasitic worm thing going on." Then I fell aseep again and I was right back with the cat. This time I held him up by his underarms and another huge clump of worms came pouring out. I held him that way until I felt the last clump fall from his body and go splattering into the drain. Next morning my girlfriend who works 3rd shift was sitting up when I came out. She said: "That cat seems better. He shit all over the porch last night." I went to see the crap but she'd hosed it away by then. I'm sure there was worms in it. Although it's an obvious diagnosis that I might have conjured up in my mind and dreamt about, it left me feeling rather strange and good. Can't help but wonder now. Especially odd was going back to the same dream, something that has only happened a few times in my life.

These things are certainly possible. I had a comparable experience with a distance-healer and a cat I lived with some years back. The cat had taken to pissing all over my work on my desk. Someone told me about a distance healer who might be able to help who proceeded to ‘visit’ my cat via an astral projection. Once this visit had taken place the healer sent me a letter saying my cat had once been a snake who had bitten a baby and that he was still sorry about it. She drew a kind of snake talisman and wrote a prayer for me to say over the cat, which I did. Needless to say, the cat never pissed on my work again. Maybe you’re on to a good thing.

That's good news, halfglass... I wish I had known more about such healing before my cat passed away. I have since learned about Reiki and other healing modalities, which have helped me greatly, but I haven't had any pets since then.
Perhaps there is something awakening in you as well. I wonder, has anyone else noticed similar abilities showing up through dreams or some kind of intuitive healing?

Gelfer: Interesting. The use of projection to heal. Gyuri: Can you tell of some of the Reiki stuff? (I've only heard of it from ads and such.)

i wasn't going to mention it because, like Halfglass, i've always been a bit unsure about whether my experience was tapping into healing power or coincidence or whatever. But, about three months ago, my wife had been suffering severe back pain--SI joint agony, knots & spasms in the shoulders. This had been going on for over a week &, if anything, she was getting worse and not better.
One night as we were "spooning" right before drifting off to sleep, i dimly perceived behind half-closed eyes a camp in a clearing in a forest. i soon became aware that i was "observing" an ayahuasca ceremony. Without even thinking about it, i sort of "called up" that sense of power that comes on with aya and just short of the audible range began to intone in tune with the participants in the ceremony i was somehow part of. At the same time, i felt the urge to pass my hands just above the surface of my wife's skin, particularly along the really painful regions. i probably kept this up for 20-30 minutes. While the visual of the ceremony was faint, i was nevertheless "there" for most of that time.
i don't know any other way to explain this, but i KNEW that some kind of power was passing between my hand and my wife's back. i could feel invisible things moving in my body and in hers. By the end of this time my wife's breathing indicated that she was asleep, but even so she moaned once or twice, then heaved a long sigh and just sort of seemed to uncoil. i was filled with peaceful fatigue and drifted off a few minutes later.
Next morning, we were elated to discover that her back was completely back to normal. i'll be frank: i am actively seeking healing power. It's one of my chief motives for taking psychedelics; i've been pretty clear from the beginning that the shamanic path is the healer's path (with all the ramifications of the word healer). But, so far, this is the only time that i've been even close to saying that i've felt such powers at work--and this event seemed completely spontaneous. i've since tried to call back the forest vision & the power to heal other illnesses and aches and pains, but with no success.
Thanks for sharing these stories Halfglass, gelfer, and gyuri.

Thanks for sharing these stories, Halfglass, Gelfer, Gyuri and Proteus.
I'm engaged in a mini-war of words over at ayahuasca.com with a fundamentalist Christian ayahuasquero and it's nice to read some familiar voices saying sane things.
Maybe I just need to shut the computer off....
Peace.

Halfglass, I found a good FAQ for Reiki on Reiki.org (http://www.reiki.org/FAQ/FAQHomepage.html). I've trained in the Jin Kei Do (http://www.healing-touch.co.uk/menu1.htm) lineage, which incorporates some Buddhist teachings as well. If you are interested, be sure to look around; there are many lineages, and plenty of people just out to make some $$$.
Woodpecker, good to know there's a sane place to go, huh? I've yet to see a flame war erupt here (would knock on wood if there was any in my cubicle ;) )

Gyuri,
Right on. It ended peacefully, anyway.
