Didn't know where to post this but I have a feeling Indonesia is poised to undergo yet another monumental volcanic event ala...the explosion of Krakatoa Island on August 27, 1883...anniversary eruption anyone?

I live in Los Angeles, and around here it is believed that the hot weather usually heralds earthquakes. Since we usually get lots of small ones, gradually relieving the pressure, it isn't that much of a problem. On the other hand, if the South Bay split off to become an island rather suddenly, then a lot of displaced water would surge up & maybe over the coastal hills. Then I might get splashed.
I think we need be more concerned with Yellowstone, and also the Ohio Valley. As I remember, the Ohio Valley never gets the small earthquakes, so when they get one, it is real big. The last time, it changed the course of the Mississippi River, and it's due again.

The Pacific Northwest has the same problem. We don't get enough small earthquakes to relieve the pressure. Geologists unanimously say we are overdue for an earthquake in the 9 range.

Isaiah Mpski, many, many years ago I lived in Iowa. Once in a storm I saw the sky turn green, and then suddenly it got very still. I saw a funnel, and promptly crawled into a storm drain.
If I lived in Tornado Alley, my house would be built into a hill with only the garage showing on top. I'm sure you know when to get into a Hobbit hole...

I think we need be more concerned with Yellowstone, I just got back from Jackson, just south of Yellowstone, and there was a conspicuous lack of animals. Folks were commenting, comming back from Yellowstone, that there were no animals around.
they actually had a special on discovery channel not too long ago going over a possible yellowstone erruption scenerio.. pretty grim outlook. at least it'll take care of our global warming problem!
