http://www.paratheatrical.com/

Paratheatrical research is an asocial discipline combining techniques of physical theatre, dance and standing Zazen meditation for accessing the internal landscape as a spiritual event that sometimes inspires stories for original theatre, cinema and performance experiments.

"ParaTheatrical ReSearch" is not a group of card-carrying members nor is it a tribal identity or a cult or a business. It is more like a free-floating entity with a rotating skeleton crew of individuals who come and go according to their own timing and needs for meeting, working together and parting ways until the next ritual lab, theatre or film project engages their immediate interest.

A guy I know described (in a blog) a ritual lab where he became Inanna and Erishkigal. Personally I view this as a form of active imagination but I'm still trying to figure it out. See my other post.

Upcoming live show March 13 & 14.

Maybe the gods are forms of active imagination. I'm still trying to figure it out too.

Thick, solid, booming active imagination....

Hi Nick, I see you've just joined us. Welcome. As I mentioned, I got a kick out of your site. Sent the link to your haiku page around to some poet friends of mine this morning and got a "wow, cool" response. You get a lot out of just a few syllables. The story about the guy getting up at night to get a drink of water was funny too, and then of course the whole goddess transformation thing was intense.

I read about Antero Ali a few weeks back on a link from the Free Will Astrology site. Sounds like a good performance you-all are cooking up.

Hi Woodpecker,

Thanks for the welcome. I'm glad you're enjoying my site. That's what it's there for, after all.

I just joined this board last night after doing a routine check of my server logs and noting that I was getting visitors via a link on a site I'd never heard of. Traced the link back and found this here discussion thread. Checked out a few of the other threads and decided this was my kind of place.

And yeah, it is indeed quite a show we're cooking up. I encourage anyone on this board who lives in the SF Bay Area to try to make it.

The first two performances will be in the fairly small dance studio where we've been working, which means our maximum audience size will be about 50 people, all seated on the floor around us. A very in-your-face sort of event.

..........................................

Hey Forteanajones,

I note that you describe me as "a guy I know." When you say "know," do you just mean that you have an intuitive recognition of who I am, perhaps based on shared past-life history, or do you mean that you and I have actually met one another in our present incarnations?

If the latter, who are you? Your handle on this board is unfamiliar to me. If you don't want to reveal your civilian identity publicly, feel free to drop me an email or a private message.

Nicky

Nick,

Hope you don't mind the surprise, it was with the best intentions and it's a treat to see you turn up here! I found your site a while back and have been quietly lurking there as I do to an extent on this one. You once showed me Amarantis where I thoroughly enjoyed the benefits of card-playing and avoiding Virgil Kane.

Hello and welcome!

John

John! Is wonderful to encounter you again!

Drop me an email sometime soon, let me know where you're living these days, what you're up to, that sort of thing.

If you're still in the Bay Area, I hope you'll be able to get involved in future Paratheatrical Research projects.
